The Seascape Ecology research group was represented at the all important 5th National Global Change Conference hosted by the Department of Science and Innovation, NRF and the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein this week (30 January - 2 February). The conference brings together scientists, students and stakeholders from diverse fields that have an interest in addressing and discussing issues of global change.
The theme of the conference is "Research and Innovation accelerating transformations to global sustainability" and includes plenary talks, oral presentations and poster presentations within the broad themes of:
The sustainable implementation space: innovations, institutions and imagination
Understanding a changing climate
Reducing the human footprint
Adapting the way we live
Seascapes postdoc, Dr Carla Edworthy, gave an oral presentation in a session on "Ocean Monitoring" highlighting some of the chemical and physical climate change monitoring we are conducting in Algoa Bay.
